I won this in a blog giveaway by Gemma at Lipstick and Lashes her blog is awesome so make sure you check it out if you get the chance. I can’t tell you how happy I was when I won this along with some other prizes as I wanted to try Tangle Teezer’s for ages, but just wasn’t sure if they would be that good as I had seen a few negative reviews about them. If I could go back in time and talk to my past self I would be “Go and buy one now! You’ll love it!”.
The Tangle Teezer brand was developed by Shaun Pulfrey and was on a programme called Dragons Den in 2007 in which people pitch their ideas to the ‘dragons’ who if they like the idea give them the money they need for a percentage in the company. Tangle Teezer idea was rejected, however undeterred he when on and create them with his own money and they now the company makes millions.
This is the original style Tangle Teezer and is a super bright pink, the photo’s do not do justice to its brightness! It is shaded in a way that makes it easy to hold when brushing your and has lots of bristles in a short and longer size. The brush is made of plastic and the bristles are slightly bendy so they don’t snap the hair.
I have relatively long hair which is really thick, and it can get pretty tangley when I wash it or if I’ve just dyed it. Normally when my hair was wet I would just use a wide tooth comb in order to prevent breakages. I was never sure whether to buy the Tangle Teezer mainly because I wasn’t sure if it was really going to be that much better than the comb, but it is! I really wish that I’d bought one sooner, I find that it doesn’t seem to pull the hair as much and therefore makes it less painful and that it also seems to take the tangles out much quicker. I really found this after I dye my hair as I find it to be just full of knots sometimes after dying it, but it was so much quicker and easier to brush through when using this.
I find that it works well when the hair is dry too, but not too much more than a normal brush but then the weather hasn’t been really windy lately so maybe I’ll need to revisit that thought then. I would really recommend this product if you have really long or really thick hair. I’m not sure how much of a difference it would make on thin hair, but if you have thin hair and a Tangle Teezer then let me know what you think!
Tangle Teezers can be bought from Boots and the Tangle Teezer website. They have a much larger range but this original style one costs £10.99.
Do you have a Tangle Teezer, what do you think of them?
