My Little Box – February

I got my first My Little Box last month which you can read about here and I couldn’t wait for my next one to be delivered. The theme of this month’s box was Frenchie so I was desperate to see what was in. I love it coming as a box of surprises so I always avoid any posts with spoilers, so if you’re the same the same don’t scroll down any further!

For this box My Little Box had teamed up with Ines de la Fressange, if you’re not sure who she is, she is a former model, the muse of Karl Lagerfeld and her style just seems to sum up everything you think of when you imagine French style. As always the first thing you see when you open the box is a cute little print, this month the quote says; “Life is never what it seems – and that’s the great thing about it”. I love the prints in this box and I feel that it really helps to make them stand out from other beauty boxes available. There is also the My Little World Magazine; which has interviews with Ines, hair and make-up tips and at the back it has a recipe for macaroons. I think I’ll be trying out the macaroon recipe and hopefully they will turn out a little better than my last attempt at macaroon making.

The lifestyle products in this box are a phone case and a little pot of notes. The phone case is made of canvas and pvc? It has a little pocket at the front which would be great for putting headphones in or perhaps train tickets if you’re traveling. I don’t normally use phone cases like this but I think that I’ll be trying it out as it looks so pretty. The phone case is quite large so it will definitely fit a range of phones; I’ve pictured it next to my Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini so you can get a rough estimate of the size.

The little pot filled with notes is so cute looking and I love the idea of it! There are 28 little notes with quotes…I haven’t opened any myself yet as they just look so perfect and I can’t imagine the little jar being empty.

Now onto the beauty products! Here’s what came inside this month’s box,

My Little Frenchie Box

  • L’oreal Brow Artist Shaper – I really like this and it matches my brows really well.  I’ll give it a full review soon to give you my full thoughts on it.
  • My Little Beauty Embellisseur Teinte de Peche– This month’s My Little Beauty product is a complexion enhancer which is suitable for all skin types and aims to leave you with glowing skin.  I’ll give this one a full post itself I think, so look out for it!
  • DHC Blotting Paper –  This little pack contains 100 sheets of blotting paper which is made from 100% natural hemp fibers which apparently makes them more effective than synthetic blotting papers at absorbing oils and mattifying your complexion.
  • By Terry Kohl Pencil – I received the shade Bronze Generation. It also has a waterproof formula meaning that it should hopefully last quite a while.  I’ve yet to try this but I’ll be sure to update you 🙂

I’m really in love with these boxes and looking forward to next month’s box which should arrive around the time of my birthday! If your curious to know how much this box was worth then I did a quick calculation of the prices and it works out at; £64.49!

Have you tried My Little Box or any other subscription box?  Or do you prefer to just buy the products that you want?

My Little Box – January

I had always wanted to try and beauty box subscription and there are so many out there to choose from. What put me off however was I never seen any that I was like, “I really want to try this one” until I see My Little Box. My Little Box is a subscription box (which you can easily cancel if you need to) which contains both beauty and lifestyle products. The service has only been available in the UK since September so if you haven’t yet heard of them and want the see more you can visit their site here. Each box has a theme and the products are related to the theme of the box.

My Little Box

I signed up the service on the 1st of January to make sure that I got the January box as the first box that you receive is the box of the month that you sign up in. I waited until January as I had already seen the December box and as nice as it looked I really wanted the contents to be a surprise. It says on the website that it can take up to three weeks for your first order to be processed and that they usually aim to have boxes arrive by the 20th of each month. Mine was processed within the three weeks and was marked as dispatched on the 12th and arrive on the 17th. I was so excited when the postman arrived as I love surprises and couldn’t wait to get into the box to see what was inside.

My Little Box

Inside each box you will receive 3 beauty products; one from their own range, My Little Beauty, plus a full sized product and a trial sized product, the My Little World magazine plus other goodies. The theme of this box was Energy and I have to admit that I love the fact that it wasn’t aimed just at people who love going to the gym and working out as I feel that this could have left a lot of people out.

My Little Box

Inside the My Little Energy Box was a cute postcard sized print with a little motivational type saying, the my little world magazine, a calendar (which has sudoku and little ideas through it), a gym bag (but you could easily use this for other things if you’re not a gym fan) and a little drawstring bag with the beauty products. The My Little World magazine has some interviews, makeup tips, exercise ideas and more. The gym bag is a really good size and I have no idea how they managed to fold it up so small – I don’t have a picture of it folded as I opened it up right away to find out what it was. It has a really cute design and says “Good Energy is Contagious”.

Now on to the beauty products! They came in the cute little drawstring bag and when I opened it up this is what it contained;

  • Talika Photo-Hydra Day Moisturiser – I’m really looking forward to trying this and I think I’ll give a full review of it really soon.
  • Nails Inc Nail Varnish in Tate – This is such a gorgeous colour! I’m currently wearing it and if you want to see what it looks like head to my instagram.
  • My Little Beauty Brume Energisante – This is an energising face and body to help refresh the appearance of dull skin. It also contains vitamin C which is known for its toning properties. I’ve used this a few time and really like it. It is a shame that at the moment in the UK you can only get the My Little Beauty products in the My Little Boxes. But I’m hoping that soon we’ll be able to buy them from the My Little Beauty shop.

Overall I love this box and I can’t wait to get my next one! I really recommend that you if you’re going to try a beauty box your try this one. The was a little leaflet inside which tells you the price of the items that you’ve received and I worked out that this box as worth £78.50 – and you only pay £14.95 (£11+£3.95 p+p). I really couldn’t believe it!

Have you tried any beauty boxes? If you have what did you think and do you have a favourite?
