My Little Box – April

I absolutely love My Little Box and each month I can’t wait until it gets delivered. This is the only beauty box that I’ve subscribed to and I always try to avoid any spoilers that others post on their blog/instagram as I love it to be a surprise! So if you’re like me and haven’t got this month’s; don’t read any further!

My Little Box - April

The theme of this months’ box was the Dream box which had a gorgeous illustration on the top of the box. Inside was the usual quote, magazine, lifestyle goodies and beauty products. This month’s quote was “If you can dream it, you can do it” by Walt Disney. This is going to be my new inspirational quote that will hopefully provide me with some extra motivation to achieve my goals. This month’s magazine had tips such as how to create great brows and a hair tutorial for a cute messy bun.

I couldn’t wait to see what was inside these cute little packages! Inside the cloud package I found a cute little necklace stamped with “bonne étoile” which translates to “lucky star”. In the second of the packages I discovered a cute little stamp and ink pad. I think that this will be great for adding a little bit of fun to what could otherwise be boring notes.

And finally on to the beauty products, there seemed to be a theme this month and it was all about getting ready for summer. This month there was;

My Little Box - April

My Little Box - April

  • My Little Beauty Repairing Hair Mask – I was a little bit disappointed when I saw this considering there was a hair mask in last month’s box which also claimed to target dry ends. I have to admit though I really like this on and think it may actually be better than the Keratase one that I received in March. I don’t really have dry ends but I do find that after using this hair looks super shiny and feels really soft. There is 100mls of product meaning that it should last a while.
  • Loved By Lou Lesage Lip Balm – I am loving this tinted lip balm at the moment and having been using it a lot since I received this box. I find that it helps to add a subtle hint of colour which can be built up slightly and helps to keep lips moisturised. I find that it lasts a few hours before needing to be reapplied.
  • Cowshed Wild Cow Invigorating Boy Lotion – I haven’t had the chance to try this out yet but from what I’ve seen online Cowshed are supposed to be a great brand. This moisturiser smells really fresh and contains lemongrass, ginger and rosemary essential oils. Their body lotions are also naturally free of sulphates and parabens don’t contain mineral oil and petrolatum. Ingredients such as mineral oil and petrolatum trap moisture in the skin rather than helping to add moisture meaning that products containing these aren’t going to help if your skin is feeling dry.

I loved this month’s box and it is definitely up there with my favourites, although I still think that the February box was the best one I’ve received. Personally I think this is a huge improvement on last months which I thought was okay but nothing special. Anyway I always like to add things up for you so you can have an idea how much it would cost to buy everything separately and the total of this month’s box is £61! I really feel like these boxes are good value for money considering they cost £14.95 (£11 + £3.95 p+p) I would say if you want to try out a beauty box then I would go for a My Little Box.

Do you subscribe to My Little Box, if you do did you like this months? If you don’t do you think subscription boxes are a good idea?

Revlon ColorBurst Lacquer Balm – Enticing

If you know me then you’ll know how much I love lip crayons like these as they are so easy to apply especially when you’re out and about. I got this shade at Christmas and have worn it multiple times since.

Revlon Lacquer Balm - Enticing

Like all of Revlon’s Lacquer Balms, Enticing come in the super shiny packaging which makes them stand out from their matte balms and balm stains. I really like the casing however I find that it seems to scratch easier than others if you tend to chuck them in your bag like me. The Lacquer Balms twist at the bottom to reveal more product meaning that there is no need for a sharpener! It has the usual peppermint smell that is associated with the Revlon balm collection.

Revlon Lacquer Balm - Enticing

Enticing is a gorgeous brick red shade. If you look really closely you can see that it has gold shimmer particles however these aren’t noticeable one it has been applied. Enticing can be applied sheerly or built up to be almost opaque. It has a really glossy finish which I just love and unlike lip-glosses this isn’t sticky so this is perfect if you want a high shine non sticky finish.

Revlon Lacquer Balm - Enticing

I find that it is quite moisturising due to having shea, mango and coconut butter. I do find that it lasts about 4-5 hours before needing to be topped up, although you might have to touch it up sooner if you’re eating and drinking.  The Revlon Lacquer Balms can be bought from Boots and Superdrug for £7.99 – however they both have them on offer; 3 for 2 in Boots and £4.99 in Superdrug!

Do you prefer crayon type lip products to regular lipsticks? Is there any that you would recommend?

The Body Shop Born Lippy Lip Balm

I got this a while back as I think it was the December issue of Glamour had the Body Shop Joy card; where you had the chance of having £3 or more on the card. I had £3 which is great as it knocks a couple of pounds off the price and gives you an excuse to buy more than you actually would have spent. After buying a few presents for other people I decided to treat myself to this little lip balm. I have a lot of lip balms so of course I need another one to add to the collection.

Born Lippy Lip Balm

I decided to go for Passionberry I’m not sure what this is exactly but it is explained on The Body Shop website as being an exotic berry flavour/scent.  This lip balm smells amazing; it smells a bit like passion fruits to me.  It looks really purple in the tub but this doesn’t really transfer onto the lips. It is very, very slightly tinted but I don’t think that it is really noticeable. I really don’t mind this as I bought it mainly for the fact that I love lips balms especially in the winter. It leaves lips looking super glossy and I find it to be really moisturising too which is a great thing when it is so cold outside. I find that it lasts about as long as most lip balms do and will have to be reapplied throughout the day and usually lasts around 3 hours before needing topped up.

Born Lippy Lip Balm

As you can see from the picture I was a bad beauty blogger and touched it before I took my pictures!  I decided not to swatch it mainly because you really can’t see much of a tint, it looks mostly clear.  So if your look for a lip balm that is really pigmented then this is not for you, but if you just want to keep your lips hydrated and soft then I can not recommend these enough.

You can pick up The Body Shop’s Born Lippy lip balm instore and online for the tiny price of £2.  There are also 4 other flavours/scents in the range and they also have the Born Lippy range in a stick from.

Have you tried any of the Born Lippy lip balms?  If you have what did you think of them?

Summer Essentials (3) – Lips

This is the third in my series of Summer Essential posts if you have missed out on the others you can catch up on them here.

This post is focusing on lips.  To me summer is a great time for wearing a really bright lipstick but I also find that my lips can dry out a little in the summer so moisturizing lips products are also essential.  So here are my Summer Essentials or lips;

Summer Essentials Lips

  • Collection Lock and Hold Lip Gloss in Break Dance – This colour looks like a bright coral in the tube however is much paler on lips.  I feel that it helps to add a little colour so is great if you don’t want too bold a lip colour.  I find that it lasts about 4 hours before needing to be reapplied.  You can see my full review of it here.
  • Topshop Mexican Wave – This was limited edition and I have only just stared wearing it.  I really wish that I had bought more it’s such an amazing coral/red colour.  If you can find people selling it online then I would definitely buy it or if you know of a similar colour then feel free to share.  I think this is great lipstick for a bold summer look.  You can see my full review here.
  • Rimmel Kate Moss Shade 5 – This is one of my most used lipstick as you can probably see from the picture.  this is a lovely pink shade which I feel would suit most skin tones.  For me this is definitely a must have shade.
  • Barry M Touch of Magic Lip Paint- This lipstick is green, but changes to pink due to the alkali level of your lips.  As everyone has different levels of alkali the shade changes from person to person.  For me it changes to a bright pink shade.  I love this lipstick as it will suit everyone as it changes to a colour specifically for them.  A quirky must have lipstick.
  • Jewel by India R – I bought this from a blogger who creates her own lip balms.  I have the honey flavoured one which is awesome.  The lip balms are great just to moisturize you lips or if your not wanting to wear any lipstick.

Here are some swatches to give an idea of the colours, I didn’t swatch the lip blam as it’s clear and the Barry M lip paint isn’t the colour it goes on my lips (alkali level must be different)

January Favourites!

So this is my first ever favourites post 🙂 I love reading these on other peoples’ blogs and thought I’d share with everyone the products that I’d been using most through January.

January favourites

The first is MUA pro-brow pallet, I use this almost everyday as I feel that it helps define eyebrows without making them look too dark.

We also have the Viva La Diva eyeliner in blue lagoon, which I received from Nancy in the beauty blogger swap.

I’ve included my Revlon Kissable Lip Balm Stain which I’ve wore quite a lot recently as it helps moisturize as well as having a nice colour that lasts for hours.

My MUA blush in shade 2 is the first blush I ever bought (a few months ago).  I feel that this gives a nice colour to your cheeks and is easily blended in.

And last but not least is a lip balm from Jewel by India R.  These lip balms are handmade by India-Robyn and have a small crystal on top.  I have the honeyone which is lovely and is great in the cold weather.

Hope you liked my favourites, let me know what you thought 🙂
