If you’ve not been to a Revolution Bar then you need to check one out! With a wide range of cocktails, from classics to frozen, super sweet to sour there’s bound to be something that you’ll love.
Revolution Bars have recently launched their new food and drink menu which has a great choice of options for vegetarians and meat-lovers alike.
The bar has a pretty relaxed atmosphere and I feel that it’s definitely a great place to meet friends after work for a few cocktails and some food; there’s currently a Mega Monday’s deal where you can get 2 for 1 on food, or at the weekend before heading out for the night.
I opted for the Bubble-gum Daiquiri, a frozen cocktail reminiscent of Slush Puppies topped with flying saucers. It’s super tasty but word of warning, don’t drink it too quickly as you will get brain freeze! As I discovered, multiple times as I never learn.
Being a fan of White Russians, I couldn’t pass on the opportunity to try out Revolution’s twist on this classic cocktail. Using Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey instead of vodka, adding some caramel syrup and served with a chocolate wafer, I think it might actually be better than the original. Also if you’re not a fan of milk then you can order this dairy free too!
The new menu has a wide range of options, and as a vegetarian I was glad to see there were numerous veggie choices. The Beet Feast Pizza sounds great as did the Mac n Cheese and if you’re vegan you might want to check out the Pea and Courgette Risotto or the Beet Goes On Burger. If you’re not a vegetarian then you might want to try out the Spicy Vodka Chicken Pizza or the Smoke King Burger, featuring three beef patties, nacho cheese, bacon and caramel BBQ sauce.
We both decided to try the new pizzas that are on offer, I tried the Margarita with added jalapenos and my boyfriend went for the Meat Feast. The pizzas are tasty and I really loved the pizza sauce that was used with these. The crust was perfect too, crispy but not overly crunchy; I’m starting to feel like Charlie from Brooklyn 99 – won’t be long until I’m talking about mouth feel haha. If you don’t watch Brooklyn 99, then I definitely recommend that you do, it’s so good!
And as always, I can’t leave without trying the dessert menu as well. We both opted for the Bombshell Brownie; chocolate brownie bites, salted caramel sauce, honeycomb chunks and chocolate ice-cream with a sprinkling of popping candy. I loved the fact that as the popping candy was mixing with the ice-cream and the sauce you could actually hear it popping when it was placed in front of you. This dessert is super sweet but so good – I’ve you’re not a fan of sugar then I’d recommend that you give this one a pass. All of the desserts on the menu are vegetarian apart from the Cookie Dough S’mores which has marshmallows.
If you’re in Edinburgh and looking for somewhere to try a range of fun cocktails and have some good food while you do it then I’d check out Revolution.
I was kindly invited along to Revolution Edinburgh to try their new menu. All words, opinions and pictures are my own.
