I loved My Little Box when I first subscribed back in January, I enjoyed the products and loved getting a little surprise through my door each month. But I recently decided to suspend my subscription for a while as I was becoming a little disappointed in them. I didn’t get a chance to talk fully about my May box so I’ll talk about this one as well as the June box. I don’t really like being overly negative but I feel that being honest is more important and that’s why I decided to share my most recent thoughts on the boxes.
The May box was where most of my disappointment lay and from what I’d seen on other blogs, as well as the My Little Box social media pages, I was not alone. The thing that makes this company stand out is that they add cute little lifestyle goodies, however in this box the dress up doll magnets seemed to cause a little confusion. I along with most seemed to find these pointless. These seemed to suit those who had children in the family that they passed these along to but for most they just seemed confused as to why My Little Box would think they would want a dress up magnet. The create your own bangle was an interesting idea and was fun to start but I still haven’t found the time to finish it off. The other thing about this box that seemed to really annoy everyone was that there wasn’t one full-sized product – below is what is stated on its website;
“And what is in the box, exactly?
Drum roll, please… It’s a surprise, so we’re keeping our lips sealed. But we can tell you this: each month you will receive at least two full-sized beauty products (one of which will be a product from our very own My Little Beauty brand ) and a travel-sized product along with fashion and lifestyle accessories, our magazine – My Little World and goodies by our illustrator Kanako. Don’t try to press us further, that is all we’re saying.”
The products in the May box would probably be great to have for going travelling but when you’re spending money to receive a box with at least TWO full-sized products and only get a full sized own brand product, I think it’s not only misleading but very disappointing.
I chose to wait one more box to see it things improved. They did and they didn’t. Everyone received an email to say that the June box would be delayed due to production issues. Now call me cynical if you wish but I have a feeling that there might have been last-minute changes due to the vast disappointment in the May box. I could be wrong, that’s just my thoughts.
When it did arrive it was much better than the May box, but let’s face it, it wasn’t hard to beat was it? This box included sunglasses, pop up storage tubs, a My Little Beauty Sea Salt Scrub, nail varnish and Kerastase Ciment Thermique. Another conditioning product! I have received hair conditioning products in both the March and April boxes; this brings it to having hair conditioner in 3 out of 6 boxes.
So I decided to suspend my subscription. I might start it back up if I see the boxes starting to pick up again but at the moment I just feel like I’m wasting my money on them and would be better of heading to the shops and picking up something that’d I’d actually like and want (it’s probably not going to be a hair conditioner!).
Have you been disappointed in My Little Box lately? Or do subscribe to another beauty box that you feel is better, I’d love to know.
Don’t forget there is still time to enter my giveaway!
