Beauty Tips Learned From Mum | Ad

It’s almost Mother’s Day! To me Mother’s Day isn’t just about buying presents it’s about spending time together. In my family, we like to spend time catching up, having lunch and just generally having fun.

Now, is it just me or do mums seem to know absolutely everything? I thought I’d share some of the beauty tips that my mum and my gran have passed onto me…

Always take your make off

This is so important and it’s one of the beauty tips that I always follow. I love using a micellar water, such as Nivea’s MicellAIR micellar water. What I love about cleansing waters such as this, is that you can simply pop some onto a cotton pad, wipe over skin and you’re done. So there’s really no excuse for not taking it off.

Stay hydrated

I remember being told as a child that one of the best ways to look after your skin was to drink lots of water. This is something that I try to everyday and I do find that when I have been drinking more water my skin does look better.

Take care of your hands

Since the layers of skin on your hands are quite thin, they tend to show the first signs of ageing. I was always told to use gloves when washing up and to use a hand cream to help care for my hands and nails. Nivea’s Intensive Hand Cream contains almond oil which is known for its moisturising properties which will leave your hands feeling softer for longer.

I’ve used a moisturiser for as long as I can remember and I think that one of the things that influenced this was the fact that my mum always encouraged me to use it when I was kid. To me there’s nothing better than when skin feels smooth and hydrated. The iconic Nivea Creme, which launched in 1911, contains Eucerit which helps to keep skin soft while providing all the protective care it needs.

Always use SPF

I’m so glad that my mum and my gran always told me to wear sunscreen and explained how damaging the sun can be to skin. I’ve got lots of memories of sitting reading in my gran’s garden during the summer, covered in sunscreen and usually wearing one of her hats so I didn’t burn my head.

I’m so thankful for all the tips that they’ve shared with me so far and I’m sure there’s probably loads more I’ve not heard yet.

What beauty tips did you family pass on to you? I’d love to know!

SPF is the one thing I never really took much notice of when I was younger but it’s such an important factor!
