When I saw these I just knew I had to try them out; there is nothing I love more than a new lipstick. These are supposedly a dupe of the Kylie Jenner lip kits, which I have to admit I’ve not tried purely due to the fact I know that some people have said that they have had trouble with customs charges. If you’re looking for something similar without the hassle and at a fraction of the price then I would check these out.
There are three matte lip kits available, Go To, Pose and Runway and there is also three metallic lip kits too if you want to try something a little different. I picked the shade Runway, I had wanted to try the shade Pose too but sadly there wasn’t any in the store I was in.
The shade on the box is similar but not an exact match to the colour of the liquid lipsticks themselves, so if you have the chance to swatch them before you buy then I definitely would. Runway is a gorgeous berry shade which I was instantly drawn to.
Each kit has a lip-liner and a matte liquid lipstick. The lip-liner is soft and easily glides over lips without pulling or tugging. The liquid lipstick has a doe foot applicator which is soft and although a little fluffy looking it is easy to create a nice defined line with it.
I found the formula of the lipstick to be lightweight and thin, which worried me when I first started to apply it as I thought it might not go on completely opaque but my doubts were unfounded. I found when first applied it takes a minute or two before it dries completely and looks perfectly opaque and even. I would always make sure to exfoliate your lips before applying any matte product as I find it can really highlight any dry areas.
Barry M’s Matte Me Up Liquid Lip Paints don’t dry out your lips out throughout the day which I find some matte lip products do. I found it really comfortable to wear during the day and didn’t fade or rub off easily.
I found that Runway lasted really well, at least 8 hours or so with eating and drinking before I felt the colour was slightly faded just towards the inside of my lips. It was easy to touch up and reapplying it didn’t cause any crumbling of the lipstick that was already there.
They are still marked as limited edition but I’m hoping that Barry M will make them a permanent line due to their popularity. They have brought out new Matte Lip Paints without the lip pencil but I quite like having it as a kit.
Have you tried any of the other shades? Do you think that Barry M should make the Matte Liquid Lip Kits a permanent line?
